Sarah and Hagar

Woman! You were born to solve a problem.

Background

This program reflects the biblical story of Abraham’s two wives; Sarah and Hagar. In Genesis 16:-ff, Sarah asked her maiden-servant Hagar to go into her husband Abram to bear a child for him.

However in Genesis 21:12-ff, God tells Abraham to send Hagar away and instead keep Sarah as his wife. An implication that God honors matrimonial marriages.

On the other hand, God did not cast away Hagar and her son Ishmael as reflected in Genesis 21:17 (b)-18 where “God sent an Angel to Hagar, and said to her, “What ails you, Hagar? Fear not, for God has heard the voice of the lad where he is. 18′ Arise, lift up the lad and hold him with your hand, for I will make him a great nation.” This implies that God loves all of us regardless of any situation you are in, and has a portion for each one of us.

Programme Purpose

This programme therefore targets women who have co-wives or are themselves co-wives. Women are taught that God keeps his word, and he fights the battle, as long as you are in your rightful position.

Women are also taught that it is not biblical and it is against God’s will to be a co-wife. However, God has a good plan for you to give you an unexpected future.

Women are trained to pray hard so that God intervenes in their situations accordingly just like both Sarah and Hagar did.

They are also trained to be forgiving wives and pray for their co-wives as Jesus said in the book of Matthew;

“But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.”

Matthew 5:44 NKJV

Program Activities

We usually have prayer meetings where we encourage one another as we each discover God’s direction for our lives.
